manhwa

a fan art of manhwa 'bride of the water god.'

found it while browsing through mangareader to find good manhwa. most were shoujo stuff,
didn't finish reading this one.

i still think the best manhwa is shin angyo onshi.

*just a note; if the manga you want to read is available at gamestotal, do read it there,
they'll load 20 pages at once.

mr nice guy

whenever he came to malaysia, seki-san would bring over chocolates for us.
then he knew that i love manga especially one piece, so he brought these from japan.

it was to be shared with the whole team, but usually i was the one finishing them
and keeping the box :D

he loves to collect old, rare manga, hence we shared the same interest. he bought me a lot of original anime celluloid (which brought me to tears), telling me he couldn't find one piece as nowadays most anime have moved to digital rendering.

some more photos from seki-san's fb;

he had always asked when i'm coming to japan. will take me travel around, especially to ghibli studio.
"do you know the closet where doraemon sleeps in nobita's room? i have one at home, you can sleep inside,"
was his offer :-|

been a long time since i last met him. we both have left the company anyway, i wish him a happy and prosperous life.

coffee doesn't help~

planning to have some drink coasters as my wedding door gifts later, only if they turn out all right :)

use a glass sealants as the finishing, it would need several layers to cover up.

mr fiance has started a blog, mainly to review his extensive collections. do check out if you're a fan of transformers :D

istanbul aku datang and malay movies generally

i was reading the review made by vien on strawberry cinta. not gonna watch that movie, just watching the trailer made me puke, bak kata plain.

but then while waiting for mr fiancee finishing his works, i watched istanbul aku datang. that was one of a few malay movies i watched since i come back to malaysia (a few only since 2009, not even ten malay movies i had since then). so they went to istanbul, beautiful city, and hence i was hoping for a creative storyline.

i found more or less nothing; basically. perhaps lisa surihani's acting is better now, compared to i'm not single, even though it is clearly unnatural. its a good thing that she has a sweet face that is not surprisingly beautiful but does not need thick cosmetics. in term of acting, maya karin sucks at first too, then she got better acting as pontianak. beto is nice, a bit over reacting that are not needed, but he's cool alright. tomok needs no comment, just a waste of time. there are two roommates, and i found them interesting.

the best actor was actually that istanbul guy who cheated on lisa.

now i could admit that THERE ARE NEW malay actors and actresses who could actually act (at least the ones they picked for the tv dramas are way better than for the movies). rather than those 'kayu' ones with thick makeups, obviously. or those 'kayu' guys who control macho all the time tapi hidung terkembang kempis baca skrip. so no problem with the actors and actresses, lets talk about the storyline.

you guys went to ISTANBUL FOR GOD'S SAKE. and a girl going to make his boyfriend propose to her but end up that boyfriend has another girlfriend so that the girl is so sad and another guy pujuk2 and last2 she ends up with the other guy IS THE BEST YOU COULD THINK OF?

the story focuses too much on lisa, and even the growth of the relationship between lisa and beto were done terribly. come on, love is not that easy, admit it.

in this case i prefer nur kasih the movie. a more touching and stronger story line.

i found out that most movies were done for the actors and actresses; not the other way round. and to make the movie 'looks' expensive, they went overseas; but failed to use those scenes to be a strong and important part of the movie.

one more, they always tried to portray malaysian student's life in oversea. in nur kasih's first episode drama, they failed. remy ishak cycled from his apartment to the exam hall in sydney; he was late and looked so dramatic. but he cycled without wearing a helmet. dear sir, it is forbidden to cycle without wearing a helmet in australia.

malay movies and dramas lack studies and research, we would say ('we' here refer to us who spent some ladies nights watching malay dramas online to heal our homesick studying far away from home, few years back). they show a girl never comes back to malaysia during her four years studies in perth. no money they say. wey, aku penah beli tiket perth-kl air asia RM250 je la sengal. student sponsored by MARA yang paling miskin pun dapat AUD980 sebulan kot. tu belum JPA, TNB, Petronas dan sebagainya, lagi banyak duit. and lagi satu ko freehair, senang dapat keje instead of minah tudung. kalau femili miskin sangat asal x wat part time. ada membe aku keje part time dapat kumpul duit puluh2 ribu bawak balik melesia, study x terganggu pun, skang tgh sambung phd kat adelaide. lagi sorang, anak orang kaya tapi bapak support fees je, makan sewa umah carik sendiri. so dia dok la keje cleaner, jaga padang time bola or kriket, restoran, dan sebagainya. skang da grad keje kat queensland. (aku dulu pun keje cleaner, babysitter, hantar surat khabar, and restoran, apepe je la yg dapat)

when they go overseas, wherever in the world, it is always, always, always winter. with jaket selendang bagai. they forgot about summer bila kulit kering 45 degree celcius hutan terbakar orang tua and kanak2 mati dehydrated.

bila budak study oversea je berparti, perangai sosial macam bastard bitches etc. ye lah ada je bebudak private yg anak org kaya g clubbing tapi ramai gak anak menteri petang2 diorg g main bola kat padang, malam2 lepak minum teh tarik makan roti canai kat swinging bowl. ada gak membe aku anak tan sri keje restoran basuh pinggan masak lap meja kupas bawang dan lain2 lah. yang tu korang tak potray pulak? tu belum pasal usrah ke, pasal komuniti malaysia berdebat pasal supply daging tu halal ke haram ke etc.. pasal study susah nak mampos lagi.. jangan sempitkan pemikiran and look into things in your only one point of view boleh tak? korang buat citer research la bebetul. ni buat masalah cinta je tapi pegi jauh sampai oversea. masalah study tak sentuh langsung padahal time kat uni mende tu la yg paling penting. sedap2 hati je nak drop medic kat istanbul balik melesia padahal bukan fail pun. fikir logik la logik la jangan la dok berangaaaannnn je tulis skrip!!!

ok saya dah emo. bye!

with is, ezani n nani on the night before my graduation. rumah kecik je dapur sempit masak sendiri. tapi boleh lenjan duduk sepuluh orang bila femili datang.  makanan lak boleh simpan dalam fridge seminggu pastu bila nak makan panaskan je. sedap tu masak lemak cili padi seminggu punya simpan.

drink coaster illustrated

another sketch on a drink coaster. my shoe was teared out, hence asked a colleague to dapao for me. inked this girl while waiting for the food.

wondering if i could paint her using watercolors, the surface of the coaster isnt a good idea.

working on more of this, for the wedding doorgifts.

this february would mark the eleventh year since we first met.

turning 26, him 27.
